Before you hire in the UK

When arriving at your rental location you will have to supply certain forms of ID in addition to your driving license. Its important that you produce a 2nd form of ID, UK residents must produce a utility bill or bank statement from a recognised authority dated within the last 3 months.

Your driving License

If you have the new style driving license, you must bring along both parts. If you arrive with just the plastic part of your license, the supplier has the right to refuse to lease the vehicle.

Age restrictions.

The minimum rental age for a UK car rental is 25. However, in some cases, the minimum age is 23 (for small car groups). Renters between 23 and 25 will incur a 'Young Drivers Surcharge' which is paid locally.

Methods of payment

When you arrive to collect your car, a valid credit or debit card will need to be produced. This is because an authorisation is required for a deposit. Please note that the renter must be physically present to sign the paperwork and the card must be in their name.

London Congestion charge - don't get caught out!

If you are driving in, or around London, you will need to pay the congestion charge during the charging hours. The daily charge is £8* and you can either pay this in advance or before midnight on the day your travelling.
